Recently I noticed my dog Skye has circular scabs that look identical to ringworm infection. My parents say it's nothing but him just scratching himself too hard - but with the imagery I'm seeing on the internet, I find this hard to believe.

Does this need to be treated?

I would at least email those pictures to your vet to see what they think. Meanwhile, I'd treat it as if it were contagious, and make sure you thoroughly wash your hands after handling him.

It might help to tell your parents that ringworm is contagious to people and difficult to get rid of once you have it. I agree with checking with your vet to see if they have a way to receive photos - then they can tell you if they think it should be seen.
