I have to stop looking at Petfinder and my local humane society. I keep seeing dogs I want to adopt. And really, it's best for me to have just one. Maybe that will change in a year or so, but I can't imagine adding another one right now. Cue is my first dog, and I've only had him for four months. I'm still working with him on some things as he is a rescue.

But geez, there are so many dogs out there I'd love to save. Today I saw a shih tzu with the cutest face.

Maybe someday I'll develop some willpower. :p

I'm the same way. There's a terrier at the local pound that clearly hasn't been groomed in months and months. I feel sorry for the poor guy or gal and would love to adopt them rather than let them spend the rest of their life covered in matted hair in a shelter that has a 65% kill rate.

Now i've just depressed myself. :(

I have fostered for a rural county shelter and I plan to do so again in the future. I periodically look at their petfinder site and it absolutely breaks my heart. They are a kill shelter and they sometimes put euth dates in the bios. I am not in a position to foster right now, (I am in school, I would have a dog or 5 in my dorm room, but I do not think the school would appreciate that) and it kills me to see these amazing dogs in danger and not be able to do anything about it. I know this, but I still check up on them. I do not know why. It just makes me sad...

It's hard not to look...my house and yard are small and really big enough for only two dogs, but I have four. The last two I adopted after "just looking" on the internet. I couldn't possibly add another, but I still look. I recently offered to pull and transport for a rescue group, but I can't foster right now, I could just do an overnight hold or something like that. Unfortunately there will always be cute dogs out there that you'd like to have...and when you're ready for another, one will be waiting.
