Hello, all!

im sorry if this has been asked/discussed before:
I have three dogs - a Staffordshire Terrier, Pitbull/Great Dane mix, and a Canary Mastiff.
My question is this, have any of you experienced sleep barking and if so, has one dog’s sleep barking triggered another dog’s sleep barking/actions? I feel like it happens with my dogs often but i can not find any supporting research.

I've never had a dog bark in its sleep, but I had a rescue who in the first months I had her cried and howled in her sleep. She had a sad background (had been dragged behind a pickup), and I thought she probably was having nightmares and would talk to her, tell her she was safe, until it stopped. It did stop after I had her a while. It never provoked similar sounds from my other dogs, asleep or awake.

All of my dogs bark in their sleep. They all also will growl in their sleep, and one will howl - so loudly that she wakes herself up (and everyone else in the house lol). Funny thing is, she has NEVER howled other than when she's asleep.

But, one of the dogs barking in their sleep has never triggered the others barking in their sleep that I've witnessed.

My pittie is a very vocal sleeper. She's been known to wake herself up by barking, which can make my German Shepherd wake up and start barking as well. .

Yep....my mini schnauzer makes all sorts of vocals sleeping. MiniS have a large "vocabulary".

Everything from Arrrroooooossss......to growls.....woofs....barks.....snorts......kicking....running......it can be very comical.

My house is a 1 dog house. So I can't comment on multiple dog interaction.

Mine barks in her sleep but it sounds nothing like her bark when she is awake. Her bark while awake is VERY loud, while her bark while sleeping is like short high pitched "yelping" sounds. Very rapid too. It has never caused the other dog to bark though. Her front paws and facial muscles often twitch around too lol

Both of mine sleep bark, whine, and suckle... yes, even the seven year old on occasion. The puppy snores. They've been known to wake themselves up on occasion, but I haven't seen them set each other off sleep-barking.

Mine runs (laying down, haha), barks, whines, snuffles, and sounds like he's chasing something when he is deeply asleep. I don't have another dog, but when we visited my sister-in-law, her dogs and my dog were both making sounds in their sleep while we relaxed in the living room. I don't know if they set each other off. They're all known to dream and move in their sleep, and perhaps it was just a coincidence they did it at the same time.
