Pup is about 5 months old. Looks to be some type of russell/doxy mix. Got her to stop nipping my wife. When I'm itching/rubbing her belly (which she loves) she get mouthy. No biting or ANY pressure at all. Just mouths my hands and fingers. Same with my wife. I don't recall our last dog doing this. Thoughts?

Thanks!

Some dogs are mouthier than others. It's pretty normal for a young pup to do that. As long as there's no hard biting, it's only a problem if it bothers you. My Golden is 3 years old and he still does it. He gets excited and he has to have something in his mouth. I could shut it down, but he's gentle and he mostly does it to me, somewhat less to my wife, and not at all to strangers.

Stop rubbing her belly when she puts her mouth on you, and she will stop putting her mouth on you. Dogs know what's important.

All of her adult teeth are in so I wouldn't think it's a teething issue. It doesn't bother me, I was just wondering if it's normal. I think she's just happy when she's doing it.
