How long is it okay for a dog to go without pooing before getting concerned?

Max is a 10 year old Carolina Dog in good health, and he seems to be acting just fine. He's older so he's not jumping around like crazy anyway, but he was active and normal in the run yesterday.

But he hasn't pooed now in 24 hours. This is not normal for him. And, his last poo was smallish and a bit wet.

No change to his diet recently, but he regarded his food without enthusiasm this morning before (barely) finishing it, stopping short of licking the bowl.

Am I crazy and overly concerned about my dog? Maybe. But I love him. So, I'd like to ask you guys:

How long is it okay for a dog to go without pooing before getting concerned?

Thanks very much for your help.

I wouldn't worry after just 24 hours unless he is showing other symptoms such as straining to have a bowel movement, tenderness, abdominal swelling, vomiting, restlessness, fever, etc.

Also, is there a possibility that he pooped and you just weren't there to notice it?

Talking them on a slow walk always seems to help too.

Get some canned pumpkin, not pie filling, cook up a touch of brown rice. Addes fiber & helps both constipation & diarrhea. If no poop by tomorrow call vet.
