Hello All
I need your advice so I will be glad for any input

My puppy has stopped eating his food, so I thought that he was sick so I took him to vet, but he concluded that he is not sick and in fact he is a healthy dog.

In fact he will eat any human food I give him (I did it just to see if it is all food that he rejects but it turned out that he only rejects his dry food)

So I have tried different stuff like adding Tunafish, Sardines and Cheese. It turns out that he will eat his dryfood but all my friend has discouraged to do that because the told in the long this will harm my dog,

so my question is what should I do?

please any advice is apprecciated

kind regards

Try a different brand of kibble, and see if he likes that better. Also, since he stopped eating it right around the time his adult teeth are setting, he could be in some discomfort, so try softening it with some plain water.

If that fails, you might have to resort to some "tough love", and teach him how to eat again. This is a good resource. Teaching Your Dog to Eat | Mind to Mind

Thank you for your answer,

I tried adding plain water but it did not help.

Regarding changing brand of kibble , I am not sure what to try now, do you have suggestions?

As soon as I saw your reply I have followed the article you mentioned. So Yesterday he only ate one meal in the evening and today he did not eat. so I will try to offer food for dinner and and see what happens. I mean it is easy to tell that he is hungry but he is so stubborn.

Best regards

When we got our dog from a shelter, they fed here Pedigree so we started with that. We had to mix in applesauce just to get her to eat. Now we use Purina Pro Plan (Salmon) and she devours it.
I agree with the switching brands/flavors tip.
