Closing it, don't think I can just delete the thread though. If I knew how I would.

I don't jump her this high that often, she's a young athletic dog and can handle a few bigger fences. If she wasn't willingly jumping then I wouldn't have put the fences that high in the first place. It's not like she does this every *day*, which I agree would be awful for her joints. But no. The fences hardly every get that high around here. This is supposed to be an enjoyable video.
Thanks for your concern.

Even though she CAN jump that high, 22 inches, I would hesitate to keep doing it as it is very hard on her joints even at 3 years of age. In Agility she would not be asked to jump more than 10 inches which is a safe height for her to jump without adding all the width you are asking her to jump.

She is obviously a very willing dog, which they are as they do very well in Agility trials, but you are asking a lot of her.

Thanks for the advice- Yeah it is hard on the little dog's joints but she's only three years old, which I suppose could cause early arthritis. I might actually start her in agility as a way to expend all her extra energy~
Awwwwe ... she is a sweet little thing!

I too have the same issue with Eddee ... only 12 pounds and jumps from a complete stand still up onto a kitchen table! I just cannot keep my "Jumping Bean" down. Lol! I think I gave him the wrong name. :) I do seriously worry about his joints ... as he is just a year old.
That's an impressive little jumper! I'm not sure there's much you could do about that though :/
I don't jump her this big that often, as the joints were already a slight concern to me even before I saw that post. :)
I have been competing in agility for several years now and I voice the same concerns as Kyllobernese. Even though my dog can jump some incredible heights, I don't jump her at those heights as the long term effect on her joints would be terrible. Your dog looks like she would make a great agility dog. But I have to tell you, in all honesty, I was cringing when I saw your video. Please get some training with a good trainer, one who competes in agility. There is A LOT more to agility than just jumping over poles. It is a great sport and you will have a blast. It looks like you and your dog have a great time....with some good training, you will make a great team.
