Hello, our longhaired Chihuahua, Papillion mix Jake, does not seem to be able to product a hard stool it is always loose or semi loose stool, we have changed his food many times with no real results what can we do for this problem.

Thank you, any help is much appreciated and Jake thanks you too.

When you change foods are you giving him enough time to get adjusted? Try adding a bit of plain yogurt to his food. Plain, not vanilla! It works for us!

You might be changing foods too often. You need to try one and stick with it for quite awhile.

What foods have you/are you trying?

We give him about a month or so to adjust but, thank you that plain yogurt advice will try that works for humans works for dogs right.

Thanks for the reply and that might be some of the problem the dog food we buy for him is not always top shelf and we give him about a month or so between dog food before changing it and it mostly dry food seems can wet foods make the problem worse.

there are other parasite that can cause diarrea such as giardia and coccidia. these can be found by testing a fecal sample.
