Hello, I'm Brendalynne from South Carolina, My family consists of five dogs and one cat. (and three children..two of them grown)
We are starting a new all breed rescue down in S.C. I'm aware that we already have some wonderful rescue groups and Animal welfare organizations here...but sadly there is still a great need for many more. I'm joining this forum with hopes to possibly receive advice and/or criticisms and maybe some more great ideas to incorporate with the ones we have already have.
We are very excited to get started although it is taking some time...but we have high hopes for the future of our domestic animals of our community. Look forward to hearing from and meeting members of this forum
Thankyou:)

Thanks, loved your Beagle pictures, I also have a beautiful Beagle whom I rescued five years ago...when I first met her she had been mistreated and abandoned... she was cold, hungry, pregnant and ate up with mange and she smelled like something dead, Animal control was going to put her down immediately...but through all the mess she looked up at me with those those big beautiful brown eyes and my heart melted.....I knew she was supposed to be with me and my family. I brought her home...treated her mange...she gave birth to eight pups..(only six survived) and five years later she and one of her pups are my constant companions,I wouldn't take anything in the world for either one. After I took her in and she got better this is what motivated my passion for rescue because everyone thought I was crazy for keeping her, they all said I should just have her put down and go get a healthy dog...but I just couldn't do it, I felt that after all this poor thing had endured that she deserved a chance to have a good life with a family that loves her and it turned out I was absolutely right.

Welcome to the forums Brendalynne! Yay, another Carolinian! :D I'm in Myrtle Beach. I'm so glad to hear what you are doing - what kind of breed rescue were you planning? Sticking with beagles?

That's one thing I don't like about the South, although I guess it happens everywhere, but it seems like so many people here have the "why bother" attitude. If you don't like your dog, just "return" it. Grrrrr. So kudos to you! I hope the rescue group works out well. There are other people on here who do rescue work, you should be able to do some searches and find info.

It will be an all breed....mix breed...any breed rescue. I also have a Dalmation and two other mix breed dogs.(all rescues)
I agree but wonder if it's worse here in the south or does it just seem that way cause we live here? I know it is a problem everywhere,I think education would be a huge factor in changing peoples attitude. Though I have to wonder if many people don't know or just dont care?
