What is the appeal of that cross over a purebred Maltese or purebred Poodle? Just the combination of two vastly different coat types sounds like a grooming nightmare to me.
Whatever breeder you go with, you need to make sure that they are doing health testing on the parents. That's not just a trip to the vet and the vet saying they look healthy. It's things like OFA x-rays and eye exams. Check out the national AKC clubs of the respective breeds to see what testing they recommend. I know that Poodles have several issues that should be tested for, including Progressive Retinal Atrophy. Make sure you see hard copies of all testing results.
