Ok, maybe this is a stupid question but I've got a question about a recipe for liver treats. I know there are quite a few different recipes, but I think this question applies to all of them. Here's the recipe I have if it makes any difference:

2 pounds beef liver
1 cup cornmeal
1 cup flour
2 tsp garlic

Blend it together, place batter in 9x12 cake pan, bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

I've found several different recipes, but none of the recipes I looked at specify this so here is my question: Are you supposed to use raw or cooked liver?

I always use raw. Never even thought to cook it first but it would work fine if you add in an egg or two and maybe some of the cooking liquid. I use canned tuna along with the water from the can and that is cooked.

Make sure the pan is really well greased or line it with parchment paper.

Lucky dog, liver cookies are super yummy.

Ok, thanks! Yeah I made tuna fudge and my dogs LOVE it, but I'm afraid to make it too often due to mercury levels. I thought I would try to shake things up a bit with liver treats. It's funny, I can't stand liver myself but I'm sure my dogs will love it! :biggrin1:
