I went to wipe my dogs butt with a baby wipe and lifted on her tail. She let out a cry and now her tail is hanging and clearly bothering her. I called the vet and they thought that maybe it was psychological and to give it a few days. I know that it is bothering her because she is having difficulty sitting and laying down comfortably.

It's hard to believe that I could have done damage because I wasn't exerting a lot of force, just lifting. I don't know if maybe her resistance in the opposite directing caused the damage.

Has anyone experienced this sort of thing? I'm thinking that I may have sprained her tail. If so, is it just a matter of waiting for it to heal?

I hate seeing her uncomfortable and afraid because of my action. Thanks for any advice.

If you're truly concerned, you need to call that vet back and tell them you're not really wanting to "give it a few days."

This isn't something that can be solved on an Internet forum.
