I have just adopted a senior beagle who came from a family who admitted they didn't walk him outside of potty runs and he pulls hard on his leash. What would you recommend to fix this behavior?
Beagles are pretty scent and food motivated usually. I would probably try a combination of "be a tree" and tiny treats regularly dispensed for walking close. A comfortable no-pull harness would be my choice over a collar, there are several options but I think a front attach harness would be my starting place
I've got the 'Be a Tree' down pat and as soon as I get the check coming in a few days I'm going to purchase the front clip harness I have my eyes on. I'll start carrying a bag of treats in my hip pouch
(He's also trash motivated but knows what he's doing is wrong so all I have to do is go Ahem and he's leaving it alone)
