There really is no such thing as a hypo allergenic dog. That is the bald truth. There may be dogs that have lower levels of allergens, such as a poodle (they have hair and must be clipped about once a month because they shed less and their hair grows all the time like human hair, so must be clipped, which is expensive to have done unless you learn to do it yourself). However, they still have allergens and a good poodle is an expensive purchase. Vet care and food after the initial purchase is also expensive.
If you have limited income, consider not just initial cost of a dog, which can be low if you adopt from a shelter or rescue, but also vet bills. If your dog becomes ill or is injured, can you afford a thousand dollar emergency vet bill? What about ordinary costs such as vaccination, worming, heartworm and flea preventatives? Sad that anyone needs to consider such things, but they do. When I did rescue, we took in several dogs abandoned at vets by owners who couldn't or wouldn't pay for treating illness or injury.

I’ve been looking for a hypoallergenic small dog . I can’t find any in any rescues. I’ve looked . Illinois St. Louis, Michigan , Indy . I have the Monet to take of puppy . But initially 1000 s to purchase cannot do . Any advice . Must be small and hypoallergenic
Miniature poodle, Havanese, Shi Tzu, or Maltese may be an option, but unless you can find one in a shelter, they will likely be more than $1,000, even from a poor breeder or puppy mill because they're cute dogs and everyone wants one.

Note, they are not "hypoallergenic." There's no such thing. Theres just dogs that are less likely to cause allergic reactions because they have lower levels of allergens. It will depend largely on how bad of a reaction the allergic person has to dogs, and what part of the dog they're allergic to (saliva or dander). For example, a person who has a severe, intense allergic reaction to dogs is probably still going to have a reaction to a poodle, but it might not be as intense as with other dogs.
I have a mix of mostly non-shedding breeds, with a few shedders thrown in just to keep things interesting.

He sheds, though nothing like the labs I've had. AND he needs to be clipped, though not as often as the miniature schnauzer we had.

I wouldn't describe him, or any dog, as hypoallergenic. He came from a good rescue. We paid, I think, $300 and he came neutered, up to date on shots, house trained and vetted with other dogs and small children by an excellent foster and would have been a bargain at $1000.
