What is bikejouring, anyway?

How do you keep a spitz exercised in the summer time? Does anyone have any good ideas (other then flying yourself and the dog to Canada for the summer? :p)

We have great hiking trails near where we live, but I was hoping for a creative answer or two. Not that there's anything wrong with hiking, I was just hoping to tap into my future dog's natural pulling drive somehow.

We live in a city, so I was just wondering how other city people do it.

I've seen some people strap on roller blades while their dog pulls them, but I worry about me being very accident prone ;). I suppose it's not really that hard, or else so many people around here wouldn't do it.

Bikejoring is where your dog is out front and pulls you while you are on a bike.

You could also get a dog scooter; have your dog carry a pack on walks; take up jogging in the am and pm; join a dog club and do agility in an indoor facitily if its to hot outdoors; find a nice spot for your dog to swim in regularly.
