I was reading a lot into what was the best canned dog food, and heard a lot of people say Eagle Pack was. Is Eagle Pack really a good dog food brand, or did I just buy 12 cans of bad dog food? I ordered it online, as all we have here are the heavily advertised dog foods (Purina, Blue Buffalo). I obviously know Purina is a "must avoid", and my vet doesn't recommend Blue Buffalo at all, but how does Eagle Pack compare? Thanks!

Eh, there are some Purina lines that I wouldn't feed, but I wouldn't call the entire company a "must avoid".

One place to start comparing foods would be Dog Food Advisor. https://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/

Well, my previous dog food was Hill's Science Diet... it was rated 1-star on that list. I feel awful for even letting my dog come in contact with it. It was unfortunately reccomended by my vet. Eagle Pack seems to be 4-stars! That's a good jump in quality, right?

It is a difference, yes.

This is a good read about dog food, written by a person with a degree in Canine Nutrition. http://www.dogwise.com/itemdetails.cfm?ID=DN332

I had a cat who spent 15 of his 17 years on either Hills or Purina prescription food, due to experiencing liver failure (we suspect he was somehow poisoned).
