Just added a puppie to a 1 and half year old

for 15 months we have a male pekingnese dog. 2 days ago we got another pekinese male who is 5 months old. The eldest dog seems a little annoyed with the puppy as it is much more energetic and chases the eldest dog around the appartment. he almost seems depressed.

does anybody have any suggestions on how to interact the two. i appreciate that these things take time and that the eldest dog seems that the puppy has taken over.

Usually it takes a few days for new dogs to work things out. Just make sure you are treating the older dog first and the puppy second. That means the first dog eats first, goes out the door first etc. Congragulations on your new pup, pictures are always welcome.

thanks for the reply. we dont really have meal times so to speak. they get their bowls topped up at night and during the day which is maybe something we should look at. within the last few hours the older dog (Kingston) has started to bark at the puppy (Ralph) rather than sulking under the sofa which is good i think as he now wants to show his superiority.

but is that good?
