My chihuahua growls and jumps/lunges at any animals shown on TV or the computer. So far, I have tried shaking a water bottle filled with rocks (he seems to be becoming desensitized) and positioning myself in front of the TV to mark it as my territory. Any other suggestions?

Ya, negative punishment (the suggestion above) would be one way I'd try.

If that didn't work I'd aim for an orientation to you by clapping you hands and running to the fridge, and asking for a behavior for a tid bit out of the fridge. Repeating this. Sometimes this is enough for the dog to be more curious about your movements than those on the TV.

I do think it would also be a good idea to teach you dog a down-stay on a mat, preferably out of view of the TV.
