My terrier mix Pete seems to have dry, itchy skin. Fish oil was suggested and as it happens I have some Jameson Omega 3-6-9 salmon oil from my failed experiment of ME taking oil supplements. My only concern is this, Pete is a little guy (16lbs) and I gave him the whole capsule, "shell" included. I figured it would be okay because its meant for human ingestion but I wanted to check, is the actual capsule part of the oil supplement okay for dogs to ingest?

Yep. My dogs like to crack them open and squirt oil all over the kitchen. XD

Yeah it's fine. Sydney pierces a hole in them, licks out the oil, then eats the capsule part. Make sure if you're giving fish oil frequently to also supplement vitamin E, since it is used to synthesize the omega 3s.

Totally fine. I just put the whole capsule in with Biscuit's food. The only potential downside is if your pup discovers the fun of squirting fish oil everywhere.

Vitamin E is a good idea. We give our dog a fish oil pill every day and a vitamin E capsule 3 days a week.

I swear, my two eat anything in their bowl. They're eating a pre made raw currently and I put their Bug Off Garlic powder in there, a powdered digestive enzyme, their fish oil capsules, one gets a cranberry caspule....they eat it like that. Looks like hamburger with stuff in it LOL but down it goes!
