Chloe is a 2 year old ACD mix we've had since she was a puppy. The first year with her was spent trying to figure out how to stop her horrible poos and weak appetite. We finally settled on Taste of the Wild rotating between varieties and that has worked beautifully.
This year I'm afraid will be focused on allergies. She has always itched, but just normal dog itches so I never thought anything of it. But now she itches almost constantly. We have completely cut out grain foods to see if that was it (she was getting some people food tossed her way when we were snacking on something, lick the plate clean after supper, etc.) I've been giving her fish oil pills and if it gets too bad, a benadryl.

She is losing hair around the base of her tail and developing hot spot looking things on either side, it would be her pins if she were a cow

I have been considering a flea allergy but could it really just pop up like that? We have her on flea meds and spray her with 1:4 skin so soft and water to ease the itching, but its not helping yet.

She also is scratching at her ear until it bleeds. We have been cleaning it daily with a water and vinegar solution that seems to be helping a little, but I want to be treating the cause not the symptom.

Sorry for the novel and let me know what you think!

Try Eqyss Microtek shampoo and spray (instead of the Skin-so-soft). Good stuff (and you dilute the shampoo so it's not as expensive as it looks).
