I haven't gotten home yet, but my fiancee called a moment ago to tell me that our dog left the bed with a large crater in the middle. I'm still at work, so I can't tell how serious this is. If she actually ate the material what should we be prepared to do? If the bed fluff was not digested, any ideas on how to prevent this in the future?

If she ate it, just watch her closely for signs of blockage.

To prevent this going forward, I'd crate her or keep her blocked off in a room that is 'dog proofed' (as much as it can be anyway). Safer for you and for the dog! :)

I hope its not a water bed...
My dog ate the corner off a mattress when she was a pup. Didnt actually eat it just chewed it and spit it out.
Told her No! Sprayed some yucky tasting stuff on the area ..and she never did it again.

THe bed was EVIL and had to die !!!! Sorry but I couldnt help but chuckle a bit when I saw your post. I never had a dog eat my bed but they have chewed up some crazy things ! I hope the dog doesnt have any problems from his "snack ".
