I was hoping to redo my backyard this year, but it looks like that won't happen until next year. In the meantime, I have weeds and long grass in my backyard. Can anyone recommend a weed treatment that will kill the weeds but be safe for my dogs?

I can take them out (leashed) to the front yard, but I want to be able to let them out in the backyard at some point after the weed treatment without worrying if they eat a few blades of grass.

I use salt. A box of salt mixed with 3 gallons of water works well here.. It also kills the grass growth in my pond without harming my fish. It doesnt work as fast and efficient as roundup..But if you spray it when the temps are hot and sun is blaring..works great. You may have to reapply about 2 weeks after first application...then 3 weeks later.. you should be good to go for awhile.
