This is our supposed to be purebred border collie.She is 6 months old and ways about almost 50lB. She is affectionate and loving towards her family but shy with strangers but we are working on this.

Border collies have so much variety, especially if they're from working lines, that it's totally possible she's purebred! Smooth coated border collies with her colors definitely exist, and I could personally see her being all BC, especially if she has a lot of typical BC behavior. You can try a DNA test like Embark (the most reliable out there imo) if you're really curious, but even the best DNA tests aren't 100% accurate yet so it's still going to be an estimate, albeit a more precise one than just guessing based on her looks.

If I saw her on the street and you hadn't told me she's supposed to be a BC, I wouldn't guess a purebred BC. Perhaps a mix, but not purebred. If she's 50 lbs now at 6 months, she's likely to get bigger. That would be on the big end for a border collie.

That being said, Daysleepers is right in that there can be lots of variation in the breed, so it's possible it could be a very non-standard BC, but I guess my bet would be on a mix.

looks a lot like my guy who is a tri-color smooth coat BC. Mine is 6 months old and about 25lbs so far… but growing. Did you get him from a breeder that said he was pure bred? He’s cute!

Yes I did get her from a breeder who said she was border collie.

Does she have KC or ISDS papers? If not, then she may or may not be purebred. Also, ISDS dogs are bred more for working ability than looks, and there is no set conformation standard.
