I went to my first dog show the other day and I am hooked! I didn't get to stay long and I didn't see my breed, but it was still fantastic! I had so much fun just walking around, watching some gorgeous dogs. I still don't follow everything too well, but I am working on it.
I got to see Goldens (They were so beautiful! I guess I am not used to seeing well bred Goldens.), mini Poodles, Olde English Sheepdogs, Dobes, Min Pins, and Shih tzus. I also walked around and saw tons of other dogs, including my first real life Irish Wolfhound. He was gigantic!
Anyway, I had planned to get a show quality dachshund in a few years and try her out in the ring. I finally found a decent breeder and I finally got to go to a real life show. I feel like I am on my way. I obviously have a long way to go before I am ready for any of this, but it is a start. The only problem is now I am addicted. I won't be able to go to another show until August, but I am beyond excited about that one. It is a Dachshund show and my breeder will be there, so I get to talk to her and meet some of her dogs. Maybe she will be able to explain some things to me, too!
So, yeah. I am hooked. I can't wait to go to more shows, I am reading everything I can (book recommendations about showing will be appreciated), and getting more and more anxious about my future dog! I keep telling myself, only 3-4 more years... lol
