I've had a ton of time on my hands as most of you know so after a job interview I stopped at JoAnns and bought some material. Velma's harness was getting kind of ratty and it was stretched out so it was time for a new one.

Velma's color is pink, she looks so good in pink. So this is what I came up with for her harness..

Then I found this great fabric that came in both pink and turquoise so I of course had to buy it.

Teddie wants to know why he only got one harness.. Well he has a puppia harness, Which is what I based these harnesses off of.

Those look fantastic, Rux! I would love to find something like that for my sister's dog!

You are very talented. Did you hand stitch or use a sewing machine? Love the fabric and color selections.
How cool. I would love one of those for Marge when she's on her long line. Much easier to be in a harness than in a collar.
Those are wonderful Teddie. I wonder if my boys would look good in a harness like that? Velma looks like a little super model with that over the shoulder glance in that one picture. She really does look pretty in pink. I think Teddie wants you to march back to Joann's and get him some red material. He looks handsome in red. ;)

Thanks Shaina! Sewing machine all the way. lol I cannot hand stitch to save my life.

How big is your sisters dog?

When I got I just used a collar and then I bought his first harness. It makes a huge difference depending on if they pull or not. I've noticed if the dog already pulls a harness gives them that much more leverage against you.

Lol Inga. He has a red one so I thought something a little different, but you're right he is more handsome in red. That seems to be his color.
Thanks Shaina!

I wish I had a sewing machine, lol. Not that I could produce anything like that.

My sister's girl is a rather barrel-chested 10 lbs. If my laptop ever recovers I will have pics on flickr...
Teddie! those are fantastic! They are the best looking harnesses I have ever seen!

Velma and Teddie are great supermodels too! :D
How cute! I am impressed. I have a little terrier mutt who'd look cute in one of those.

I am wondering too about the hand sewing or machining. Ah. Looks machine sewn.

Did you have the webbing from an old harness, or is it new too?

Edit: Okay. Machine sewn.

Lol yes you could! They do look harder than they really are to make. ;)

For some reason it seems like you've posted pictures of her before? Hmmm

Thanks DM. Teddie was not to happy about having his picture taken!

Yep it's machine sewn. The webbing is new. They sell that at JoAnns too, but I do wish they had more of a selection of colors. :)
Teddie, I think you could build a little business with those to tide you over with the job search.......They are really special :)

Mmmmhm, says the master seamstress :p

And yeah I guess I have, lol...went back and looked: http://www.dogforums.com/8-dog-pictures-forum/37719-kim-s-grand-vacation.html

She probably appears elsewhere as well, but that's the first I saw
Those are beautiful, I like the blue flowered pattern!
Are you taking orders yet?

(Ooops. Can I say that here?)

I guess that is what made me wonder about the webbing. I didn't know JoAnns carried it. The closest one to me is about 45 miles away. Maybe a Hobby Lobby thing. Or even W-M.

Anyway, I am still really impressed with your skilz. :)
Where do you get the hardware stuff for them? I think that would be cool to do. Like where you attach the leash and the size adjustment thing?

You can buy the buckles and adjusters at any craft store and you can find the D rings there too, but they're usually dinky. I had people collect the used ones from collars that broke or were worn down at the adoption sites. Since they were just going to chuck them into the trash any way. :)

I have to agree. I just paid $30.00 for a harness for Lola. Similar to the Puppia harness but made by Bessie & Barnie. If you market them the right way you may not have to look for a job as you would already have one.
 Dang! I envy you talented people soooo much!! and here I thought I was doing so well with the silly reversible bandannas I made :(
I am very, VERY impressed!! they're fantastik & look professionally made!
You are going to post the pattern & instructions ... right???
