okay I have a American Staffordshire Terrier and she is 11 months old. Recently she started her "heat" (about 2 weeks ago) and lately or the beginning of yesterday she started having these weird "symptoms"
1. She tries to pee and nothing comes out, but she makes like this pushing motion I guess you can say.
2. Since she is on her "period" when she does get to pee she kinda pees this red "clotty" like substance.
3. As she tries to pee she kinda starts to walk while being "squatted"

Ok so I called her vet and they wanted a urinology test BUTTT I am not financially able to pay for this... which is 75 dollars for that andddd I have to pay the medicine.
I am not sure if it may be that or if it may be due to her heat... I am assuming that she has a uti. I have a friend that has had this problem with her dog and I wanted to know if I can give her amoxicillin. I am not sure how much I would give her if she were to really have an infection. Can someone please tell me what they think about this? I know that you shouldnt give a dog medicine without seeing a vet but honestly I have no other choice right now.

With straining and odd discharge, I'd be worried that it might be pyometra (uterine infection) which can be deadly. And even if it is only a UTI, she needs to be seen by a vet. Hock something or borrow the money.

I'd be worried of Pyo too. She needs to go to the vet. The blood shouldn't really be clotty as far as I know. Do you have a diaper or something on her? You need to keep her inside all the time and watch her like a hawk. Don't let any boys get to her.

Vets will often work with owners to arrange payment plans. Ask! The worst they can say is "no"! Also try http://www.carecredit.com/. Borrow from a friend/relative.

You wont find anyone here advising you to give your dog medication without her first being seen by a vet (and then it wont be the forum advising since she'll be under a vets care).

It is not possible to diagnose or treat the dog on the Internet. For the protection of the dog, and of this forum,
please read the disclaimer for this subforum and see a vet.

*Important - All serious concerns with your dog's health and well-being should be handled by a Veterinarian, so please refrain from asking questions that are best suited for their office.
