Hi. Last week, I had two lovely Bichon's (Ernie, age 9, we are his third family), and Annie (age 5, raised from 8 weeks old). Then we heard of a woman who couldn't take care of her 9 year old Bichon, Woody, who she has had since he was 8 weeks old. She said she was away a lot and she also couldn't afford healthcare and other needs for him. When we spoke to her, she made it clear that she loved him very much, and wanted to make sure he went to a very good home.

So now we have three great dogs. I knew the following was going to be an issue, but I would appreciate advice on dealing with it: I KNOW he misses his former person. He probably wonders why he was sent to this new family and if she is coming back for him. How do I help him adjust. I love on him and speak gently to him, but he just goes to the door and sits as if waiting for something to happen. Thanks.

Walk him briskly with your other dogs. It'll help them bond and reduce his stress.
