I had to share with everyone.. I'm so excited and encouraged.
I took Misty to a park we've been training at and..
She was 100% responsive and obedient with all of her commands. Even with other dogs walking a little way away and one close by (a friend brought his Husky along to help with training). I was even able to leave her long leash by my boyfriend, back away about 100 feet and she remained in a STAY. I was able to run up to her/around her, and she held the stay. Even with another dog walking 5 feet away, she stayed. When I gave her release command, she came straight to me at full speed. I was absolutely amazed.
She came to me every time I called, even when engaged in play with another dog. I still don't think I'd be comfortable having her off leash (it's not a dog park, and I don't think our training's THAT far), but she was essentially "off leash" when in her stays and during recall practice.
I am incredibly proud of her and just had to share.
