Hello there,

Ok so my husband went walking our little JRT two days ago and came across a puppy. At first I thought she was a PB but now I am wondering if she isn't a Black Mouth Cur. She isn't no where near aggressive. She is more fearful and scared of us than anything. She get's along great with my JRT and loves playing with him. She eats a ton though! The only thing is she isn't potty trained or leash trained and I told my husband that he took on this responsibility and he needs to abide by it. When he found her two days ago she was eaten almost alive by ticks, fleas and fowl odor. She is still skin and bones but we are trying to feed her as much is allowed so her stomach doesn't flip. I read up somewhere that in large breeds it does do that? I am not sure. She drinks a ton of water and chews on everything. I checked her mouth to see if she had teeth. She has little teeth so I am wondering if her grown up teeth are coming in? I am also sure she is just timid because she is a stray dog. Though she is big for a puppy. I am guessing she is anywhere from 2 months to 6 months. She act's like she has never had human interaction. Though she does seem to be coming around to the idea of being a house pet. I will post pictures in a few.

How big is she? That could be a fawn mastiff if the size is right.

For the record, pit bulls are incredibly friendly to people and have a slightly higher incidence of dog aggression. So if she is a pit bull mix, and she could be, I would expect her to be as friendly and people safe as a Golden Retriever.

OK let me measure her. I never had a Pit Bull I was just always scared of them by what I heard. I know I shouldn't be like that but, when our friends tell you about IT appearing in a mirror in a bathroom your still couscous of that to.

She looks like a pit bull terrier to me. You can't believe everything you hear about them, I mean most of what is said are stereotypes and downright lies after all. She looks very sweet.

Have you put up flyers about a found dog with a vague description yet? You can't just claim her as your own without at least attempting to find out if she had an owner. Ask around local vets and see if they know her, get the vet to scan her for a microchip or looked over for a tattoo, etc, etc.

She isn't a mastiff, doesn't even look like one to me.

We had just moved into this house a couple weeks ago so we didn't know anything about the neighborhood. We went around asking the neighbors if the knew anything about her. They said shes been eating out of their trashcans and such for about 2 months maybe. The vet will have to wait until about two more weeks. Fund issues. She is a very sweet girl and she is very tiny. I thought she might be a PB but wasn't sure.

I'm on a mastiff rescue mailing list, and a lot of the "mastiffs" look like that. Of course, a lot of them are probably mixes. (Not quite sure how I ended up on the list, tbh, but I've donated money to surgeries and such.)

Given her size, I'd agree with an APBT.

I know the stereotypes are killer dogs just waiting to eat babies, but they are popular in my neighborhood, and every single one is a sweetheart just dying to be friends with every human they see.

2 months?! There's no way I'd just sit back and watch a puppy eat out of the trash for even a day, let alone 2 months!
I swear, people irk me.
