It all depends on whether the breeders are reputable or not. I would get a pup from a reputable breeder regardless the timeframe. I'm not sure what the list you are referring to is, but I would get a personal recommendation from someone you know and trust and then go with that breeder. If they have a good reputation, do health testing and have good solid contracts with their buyers, then I would go with them and wait for the dog if you have to.
I wouldn't get a dog before I was ready for it. It's stressful enough raising a puppy. Best to be ready for it.
I got lucky. When I found the breeder I wanted, she had just found out that her bitch was pregnant by the sire I wanted. So, I got in right away. I had to wait for the gestation +2 months. But I would have waited 6 months to a year for Jaia without question.
