I've recently gotten a new roomie who is interested in eventually getting a cat. I've never had a cat before and I'm still not sure if it is a good idea. First I need a way of finding out if pepper is or isn't cat friendly. I only know one person with cats, and I'm not sure any of them are dog friendly. Pepper tends to want to box and play rough so I'm not sure she is compatible with any cat. Any suggestions?

Hmm, I guess what I would do is get a kitten (or cat who doesn't have pre-existing 'dog hate') and teach Pepper to be very gentle with the cat. If she's never met one before you will probably have good luck teaching her to be good with cats. If you just want to find out how she is before hand, I would just ask someone who has cats if you can bring her over, or maybe take her to the shelter to meet a few.

Agreed. You could find someone with dog friendly cats and go from there. If Pepper goes after the feline, or shows any malintent towards it... then suggest to your room mate that a dog might be a better option.
