My Yorkie-chihuahua cross is FINALLY content tonight.

She gets SO bored when we are home (I often have to work online) and though she chews and sleeps, she grumbles and pesters me, barking and whining for playtime (which is fine)

But today she is happy, got ENOUGH exercise and play time.

5 miles.

Three hours in total (30 min/80 min/60 min/15 min) plus playtime and she is actually happy, not bored, not grumbly

Do I have a bionic dog?? Do your small breed dogs walk for 5 miles a day?

She does have buns of steel....

Dogs are athletes. One thing that will slow a dog down is Not that they get tired, but that they get hot. Take an average dog out in the snow and they can play forever, if it stays around freezing.

I didn't think that Yorkies were 'endurance' dogs, but here in Texas, Chis can go forever.....

That's great! I definitely underestimated my small dog in terms of how much walking she can handle. She can go a lot further than I'd thought. I don't measure in distance but in time and we do a 2-2.5 hour beach walk a few times a week & she LOVES it.
