hip brace helpful?

Does anyone out there have experience with a hip brace for hip dysplasia?

My elderly, arthritic dog is starting to have more trouble with his left hip from dysplasia, and I came across the braces on the web.

But before I put out the $80, I was hoping to hear from some folks who have used them.

Do you have any experience with braces or have you heard anything?

Can't tell you but interested in the subject for JIC my own dog were to need it down the road many years from now (hopefully not would be best but... ).
Braces I know work for humans though... as aid.
Hubby had a collar brace on to help him heal a neck sprain and a broken collar bone...
So I imagine it would work well.

Exactly what I was thinking. When I sprained the heck out of my ankle, the brace brought such comfort.

I know we're in the twilight years, anything to make him more comfortable and able to walk. He has good days and bad days, but a few bad days in a row and I fled to the interwebs for more info. :)
Awwwww.... I know what you mean.
Hope your doggie feels better.

Do you give supplements too?
Supplements help out too.
I am not familar with a brace for hip problems but do know of a dog that had a brace for an ACL injury. The brace was like this http://www.woundwear.com/product3.cfm The dog was not a canidate for surgery due to a heart murmur. The dog did wonderful with the brace and soon was enjoying life again. Sorry but that is all I can offer for info on braces. What I would suggest is supplements to help the dogs and if neccessary an NSAIDs to help with any pain or discomfort your pet might be feeling.
OK, y'all, and anyone reading this in the future. The brace helps A LOT. He is a 13yo Great Pyrenees, and on Rymadil (Tramadol foe a bit, but it did not work in his case. Actually made him worse!)

I got the brace and it help A LOT! It's called Hip Hound, there are lots of places online to find it. I'm not saying he's 100% but he can get around better.
