Hi, I didn't want to post this in the first time dog owners section because I'm far from a first time owner.

My boyfriend and I are looking at getting a puppy, and I'm kind of trying to decide on a breed. I have a general idea in mind, but I want it to be right for where we live and all.

We're moving to Florida, so we need a dog that can handle the weather (I was initially looking at getting a Newfoundland, having had one until about 2 years ago). We have a big house, with a nice big fenced in yard. I don't work, so I'll be able to spend lots of time with it. I've got two kids, 5 and 3, and two small dogs, a toy poodle and a chin. We want a dog on the medium to large end of the scale. We're definately financial equipped to handle any grooming needs and anything else the new pup will need.

I was kind of thinking maybe a flat coated retriever would be great for us, but I'm looking for any suggestions that might be useful. Thanks!
