My puppy has been really good on his lease training, but has started pulling back and sits there staring at me when I try to get him to walk along with me. He acts like he is exhibiting signs of dominance. He's a little guy so I can just pick him up. How can I continue to move progress of leash walking along without him being stubborn?

Huh I have had the same issues with my little dachshund as well. It took a while but we worked through it. I know it it's hard especially if you are a first-time dog owner but it's all a process for both of you.
I have to say that I am very happy with my little dachshund. I was never really a dog person but I got gifted one and honestly I am in love with my little baby. I have always been very overprotective of her and it shows. As soon as it was possible I started training her to make sure that she was well-mannered. I have talked to some other dachshund owners at the dog pact and they kind of helped me out with tips. I have been training my dachshund via a special training plan I devised with a dog trainer. It's honestly very important for people to seek professional advice in cases like these. It took me a while to work through the stubborn part but it's all fine now. I am sure you will be fine as well.

When a dog is "stubborn", there's usually a reason, and them trying to be dominant over you ain't it.

How old is he? How far have you walked before he starts showing signs of not wanting to keep on? Are you rewarding him frequently for being in place? What does he do when you lure him with a treat? Is he showing signs of lameness, or reluctance to play, when he's not on a leash?

This is not stubbornness. This is a lack of confidence. Have GREAT food and patience. Just wait. When the puppy feels confident enough he will move. Reward with great treats (steak! Cheese!! Not some commercial stuff).

Stay calm. No dog will sit there forever.

Edit: Thanks for the great recommendations! I have transitioned to High Value treats and actually shortened the walks (so he doesn't get overly tired). He's doing better. I need to teach him the difference between potty breaks and walks. We are working on that.

Put pottying on cue. Every time you take him out for a potty break, use the same word or phrase (I use "go hurry" or "hurry up"), and eventually he will start associating it with going potty, and it will be easier to get him to go when you want/need him to.

Another thing to do is get him used to pottying on and off leash, as well on different surfaces. Going through the desert with a city dog desperately looking for any kind of grass to pee on was an experience, let me tell you.
