Hi, since getting our puppy Shadow 3 weeks ago, we have noticed quite a few flies in our house. I am very house proud and if Shadow has an accident then it is cleared up straight away and the area disinfectanted, food is never left lying around as we are playing by the 15 minute rule and the garden is poo scooped straight away. Is there anything else I could do as its horrible seeing these constantly flying around. Thanks

Welcome!

I don't know that is has much to do with the puppy. This time of year always I notice little flys coming in through one of my windows. I think they hatch between the walls or something. Really gross. All you can do is keep a swatter handy. I refuse to hang fly paper or use toxic chemicals, so just gotta swat the suckers.

I too ... do not believe the flies have to do with the puppy ... other than maybe having the door open a bit longer than usual ... all the potty trips. :)

Here where I live it is the time of year where those pesky bees are attacking you and getting inside! This occurs every year and tells me fall is just around the corner.

I agree with Abbylynn on this point. We always have critters in our house, but I've noticed a definite surge since getting our dog. It's amazing how many bugs can get in while going in and out with Katie: the door is open more often and for a longer time.

we got this mesh curtain kind of thing to hang on the door (my bestie got it for me from Bed Bath & Beyond) -- it does leave a slight opening at the bottom because our door frame doesnt have a lip at the bottom -- but it has reallly helped cut the amount of flying critters coming in when we let our pup out.

I agree that it's probably a combination of the time of year, the hottest summer on record and more opening of doors to let the puppy out.

I've actually gotten pretty lax about closing doors because Kabota loves to catch flying insects and I find it funny to watch him do it.
