We have an 8 year old pug who just a few weeks ago started night barking. Has never done this before. Everytime myself and my wife head upstairs to go to bed he starts his barking tantrums. We also have a 5 year old mini pincher who comes up to sleep with us at night but I can't think if he's jealous because she's been sleeping in our room at night for years and he's stayed downstairs with no problems until a few weeks ago. In order for him to stop one of us has to sleep downstairs. We've tried bringing him upstairs as well but that doesn't stop him from barking. Me and my wife have not been able to sleep well the past couple weeks and we just don't know what to do.

Any help??

Sounds weird for him to start all of a sudden. Has he been to the vet recently? Sometimes sudden changes in behavior can mean something medical.

Agree with a vet check with full blood workup. Diseases like Cushings can make them anxious, and unable to sleep normally.

A full physical is always the first place to start.

If that doesn't work I'd set up some cameras to see what is coming out of the closets at night.
