Hi, this is my first time owning a dog, and it's a Shih Tzu.
He's still a puppy and I got it around when it was 2 months old.
He is turning 3 months old next week. There's no real problem with his behavior.
He doesn't soil his crate overnight and doesn't poo around the house. (He pee around though.)

I want to train him to poo in a corner at the kitchen but everytime I bring him there, he lays down until I get bored and bring him back.
Question is: What should I do?

Also, I am not sure where to start training him, so I started with Potty Training.
Question is: Is that okay, or is there another training I should start with?

Thanks in advance.

Read the stickies at the top of the first time owner and training forums, about "housebreaking". Teach him to potty outside. Take him out frequently (after he eats, after he wakes up and after playing.). Use a code word for telling him to go like "Go Potty". Give him treats and praise when he goes. If he doesn't go after a few minutes, go inside, keep him tethered to you or crate him, and try again in 15 min.

Clean accidents with an enzyme cleaner like "urine Gone", "kids N Pets" or "Natures Miracle", to keep him from wanting to return there to potty.

Welcome! You know, you're halfway to training a go to mat command, which is very useful to have. Potty training, not so much. :)

I really like kikopup on YouTube. She explains clicker training wonderfully. It's a great way to train and bond with your pup. You should check it out.

Start inside where there is less distarctions when your dog is proofed with one command/cue/action you move on to the next then you add distance, duration, distractions. Then you move outside in low distarctions and start over.

Dogs do not generilze to good so every cue/command has to be taught in all places with the 3 D's. So sit has to be taught in house, each room, outside, store , friends house, ETC...
go slow training is life long :)

PS- don't forget to socialise - hope your on a GREAT plan as your puppy is in it's critcal stage and will take everything it is exposed to and learned throughout its life in its first 14 to 16 weeks of life. And have FUN wiht training

Btw, everytime I bring him to the kitchen. He gets distracted to who-knows-what and just plays/runs around. Should I leash him?

What you are most likely seeing is The Zoomies more technical name "Frenetic Random Activity Periods (FRAP)" dog runs around, racing from one end of a room to the other, sometimes spinning in circles. Which is quite normal to have these burst your dog may just may need more excercise daily. No I wouldn't leash dog it is a burst of energy that most puppies and adults have. This is good for the dog to burn off just make sure they are in a safe area and cannot hurt themselves. Just let them burn it off I wouldnt interact until dog is done.

It would fade as puppy gets older and proper excercise and mental stimulaion would also help.
