I'm a new member from MA who is a longtime dog lover and "owner". My wife and I currently have a 10 1/2 year old basset hound and a 16 month old basset/lab mix, who is a rescue dog.

We lost our 14 1/2 year old chocolate lab in March, and about 6 weeks later, we found Kate, our basset/lab mix, who was rescued from a high kill shelter in GA and adopted from a rescue venue in PA.

I hope to share and learn information and tips about dogs on a regular basis on this site.

Hello and welcome! Looking forward to pics of your pups! :)

I am so very sorry for the loss of your dog. It sounds as if he/she lived a very long and happy life! May he/she run free!

I also lost my heart dog in March ... but he was just 5 years old. I also rescued a dog exactly one month to the day of Leeo's passing. It helps to fill the void a bit.

Also ... thank you for rescuing! :D

Rescuing is a true blessing. Our little sweetie is the best. I don't think I could ever get another dog that wasn't a rescue, as there are thousands of wonderful dogs out there looking for a loving home.

Thanks, Erica. Glad to be able to join such a wonderful group.
