Hello, so glad to find your site! We rescued a 7 mth old pup from the animal shelter a week ago, and she is awesome. We are in the adjustment period, as the dynamics of our home have really changed.

We were told at the animal shelter she's a pit mix - but our vet said she's more pointer, and called her a hound mix. She's about 35 lbs. now, and she's very sweet and loving. We have a 6 yr. old min pin who is male, and she is appropriately submissive to him (even though he's as big as her head). They worked our their relationship pretty quickly.

My main concern is we have 3 cats, and there is no love lost in their dept. toward our new family member. We installed a gate so they have the back of the house as their safety zone. She has been very interested, and if they run she will chase them. But she is not aggressively barking or growling. This morning she was in the kitchen with us and our dominant male Burmese cat came into the kitchen. She wanted to sniff him, and he wanted to scratch her eyes out, and we had quite a tense moment there.

We know it will just take time - and I'm glad to find a place to ask questions and benefit from others' experience.

By the way, we live in Garland, TX. Our min pin Angus is 6, Our cats are 4, 3, and 2, and our new pup Asia is 7 months.

Hi and welcome :)
My Burmese nearly did rip my dogs eye out when we brought her home a year a go lol and they have been best friends since.
I took her into my work(vet clinic) and the vet said the dog would have needed specialist surgery if he had scratched her 1milimetere higher then he did!
Looking forward to pictures :)
