Ok, I read online that no prescription is needed for heartworm meds in Canada, but every place I looked online said Rx was needed?
Before anyone flames me, me dog is heartworm negative. Already been tested and had a few doses already. But it is so expensive from the vet. I was going to order from a US company. But my vet refuses to fax, the Rx. Says I have to come in and pick it up, so they can talk to me about it. So I have to drive out of my way. Actually my vans in the shop, so I can't even drive over there for a few days. Then they can lecture me on why I shouldn't order online, instead I should pay them double for the same medication!
I would like to avoid the entire issue and just order without a Rx.
But if it is not possible, I guess I will have to go pick up the Rx, and just ignore them same as I do when he tried to tell me that Science Diet and Purina One were the 2 best foods out there! LOL
Thanks!

Maybe an RX isn't needed in Canada (I have no idea), but you definitely need an RX in the U.S. So ordering from a U.S. company, they naturally will require a prescription. Any Canadian companies you can order from? Australia doesn't require a prescription. Or you can just use liquid Ivomec.

I looked at several Canadian pharmacies and they gave conflicting information. There was one that said in the information section that no prescription was needed. Then right underneath it the next sentence said prescription was required? I'm wondering if maybe a recent change in laws, is why I keep finding conflicting information?
I was thinking of just getting the Ivomec. I was just a little worried about overdosing my 10lb dog. But I also know most wormers, are not easy to overdose on.
I accidentally gave my sons bearded dragon a 10x overdose of Pancur! Its what happens when old folks try to read little tiny syringes without glasses on! Didn't bother him a bit! LOL

My vet pushes Royal Canin which is at least a little better than Science diet but they also say don't order online because you won't get the real medication. *rolleyes* So I order from 1800petmeds anyway and they handle contacting your vet so you don't have to. It's cheaper, easier and I don't have to get annoyed trying to argue with my vet.

My preferred vet is about a 30 minute drive from me and very out of the way. I used to buy my HW meds a year at a time at my annuals, but now I am up to 3 dogs and just can't afford it. So I started ordering off of 1-800-pet meds and got the same line about not being real and being out of date. But in the last few months my vets have started an online ordering process and their prices are actually cheaper!

I have family members that use liquid Ivomec and I have thought about it now that Interceptor is no longer available. I am just paranoid about the over dosing as well.
