My 1 y/o pointer has been diagnosed with separation anxiety and prescribed Clomicalm. The Clomicalm is suppressing her symptoms and I'm have trouble distinguishing when she is becoming distressed. I'm working with both a trainer and very behaviorist. The trainer told me the other day that there are heart rate monitors now that attach to the collar or are a part of a collar that might give me an idea of how she is feeling. Unfortunately, the trainer hasn't had any experiences with these devices so wasn't sure and my vet isn't very familiar with them either.
I was wondering if anyone has tried anything like this and how it did for monitoring heart rates. I have difficulty checking her heart rate because I keep losing it, I'm not sure why but I've never been able to check my own very well either for the same reason.
