Hello,

I have a small toy poodle mix puppy (about 5 1/2 months). We started him on blue buffalo puppy breed when we got him at 2 months old. He would eat it up every morning as soon as we put it out. But for the past month or so he won't eat it. We know he is hungry because he begs for other food and will eat treats. Should I switch his food? And if so, to what?

Thanks!

He may just be bored with it. I'm a big fan of rotating foods and try a lot of different ones for my crew.

Check out dogfoodadvisor.com It has a list of all of the dog foods and rates them. I look for 4-5 star foods.

Some of my personal favorite brands are Fromm and Acana.

On my list to try next is TOTW (Taste of the Wild) (but it is grain free). But there are dozens more that are good foods that I would feed as well. Good luck!

Dogs are incredibly smart. Yours might be allergic to the food. any hot spots, scratching, running nose or eyes?? Is your dog sometimes lethargic? I have to import Azmira dog food, not any of the other "natural foods" work for my Catahoula. She is allergic and will not even eat treats, table scraps or other grain free foods. She'll be polite and take it in her mouth and then drop it. Loves the Azmira though. Good luck!
