Hi!

I currently have a Kong harness, I hate it so much. Its padded nicely, but the stupid handle is ALWAYS sitting weird and it annoys me. I also have a sporn harness, but I don't care for it much. The padding is great, but the D-ring is connected to a piece of nylon thats stupid long, and I prefer a harness that doesn't tigten.

I've been looking at ruffwear, but I'm not willing to drop 40 dollars on a dog harness. Does anybody have any suggestions for a $30 dollar or less harness that you have found to be hardy? For hiking, lake visits, etc.

Must haves :

A handle, I grab his handle when a dog is approching to keep him close
a Large D ring, with space for a leash, and carabiner(s)
Y-front in shape
No halti / no pull / etc. (meaning i just want a harness, no tightining gimmicks, just a harness)

If it's anything like the Kong harness I have, they chest strap (between the neck and girth) should be adjustable. If so, then making it longer would probably help with the fir. It looks awfully short, the way the girth strap is up in his arm pits.

I have this one. I like it for my GSD, but not so much for my pittie. CHAI'S CHOICE 3M Reflective Dog Harness (Free Shipping) | Chewy

Looks nice,

it is short, he's a weird shaped dog. I have yet to find a harness that fits him well.

I'll get a photo of the sporn, Love how it fits, hate how it tightens.

His harness is as tight as I can get it without it being too tight, He can slip out of it if its too loose.

Any harness that doesn't have padded shaped straps will hang to the side if sideways pulling pressure is applied. There are other options, but they're over 30 usd. Ruffwear front range is ok, but it doesn't have a handle. Webmaster won't hang to the side and has a handle, but it's expensive. Blue 9 balance harness is max adjustable, but it doesn't have a handle and not much padding. Mightypaw sport dog harness maybe a good choice.

Okay, that is different from Leo's. I got hers at Petsmart several years ago, but I'm not seeing it on their website. this is the closest I can find to it, but it doesn't have a handle on the back like the Kong harness does. kong harness - Google Shopping

I got mine from petsmart a year or two ago. The Mightpaw sport looks good. It just looks long in the back, which I can see annoying me.

The knockoff webmaster material looks thicker than actual webmaster material, so it's probably not a good choice. It's also only availible in L and XL. The kurgo one isn't adjustable up front, which would be a dealbreaker for me. The embark one looks ok.

yeah, my dog likes water, he uses his harnesses in the water and that would sink him!

ugh, didn't notice. thanks for pointing it out.

Didn't know embark made harnesses - it looks nice at first glance.

Wondering about this one - https://www.amazon.com/WePet-Harnes...harness&qid=1610166213&s=pet-supplies&sr=1-59

and this one looks like a ruffwear but with a handle! - https://www.amazon.com/Embark-Adven...22494JACQ4S&psc=1&refRID=SGGR7AQHA22494JACQ4S

Edit : added icefang to my cart as a "potential". Looks perfect

You have to make sure Deacon is a medium for the icefang one. It only comes in M, L, and XL. The wepet and embark one look the same. They have the same general design, just different brands, colors, and price points.

There's this one, but it looks too much like the kong harness you have now.

I always order medium, I don't have exact measurements, but he's 21" and 51lbs. Medium has always fit him with minor adjustments.

I really don't like how the whole middle piece of the harness sticks up!

Without tension on the leash, any harness will move around and sometimes stick up on the dog's body. If it didn't the dog wouldn't be able to move naturally! Is 30 usd a hard budget, or is it just the amount you prefer to spend? I've been holding off on more expensive recommendations.

I've spent 40+ on a harness, but never found any of those harnesses to be worth it. I don't like it sticks up on my dogs harness, even with tension on the leash, it sticks up. So annoying. I'll buy something more expensive if it really seems well worth it.
