This week we took in a family members 4 month old Maltese/yorkie mix. He does not have his all of his shots so for now I am grooming him. We worked on matts using a comb and detangler spray. We clipped and worked some more and then used sissors. I think we have his body in pretty good shape but his legs still have matts/tangles. I cut the matts as close as I was comfortable but he still has them very close to his skin. Does anyone have any advice on how to get his leg hair matt free?

Cutting matts with scissors is very dangerous, especially when they are on legs, and close to the skin, and on a puppy. Take him to a professional and save yourself an accident. If he has had one set of puppy shots he is immune. Just find a groomer that doesnt require proof of vaccines.
