I have a female great dane, about 2 years old, who has a bad habit of banging on doors when she knows that I am inside. During the day, she is fine, but as as soon as it gets dark she will start barking and jumping up on the glass storm door IF and ONLY if she knows that I am inside. She is used to sleeping in my bedroom at night and is always brought in at the same time

I have done some basic training with her (teaching yes/no, sit, come) and she responds well to me, but I am having trouble finding a way to tackle this problem, as the moment that I am in view she sits outside the door without a peep. How do you train a dog to act a certain way when you are not present?

I am not exactly certain what you mean in this situation that the dog jumps on the door "when you are inside". Is the dog an outside dog? Is there a reason you can't let her in when she starts barking? I don't think I'm understanding your question completely. My dog barks to be let inside the house, but he has been taught to bark and wait politely until I open the door so he does not damage doors. Is that what you're after?
