Hi there,

Next week I'll be bringing home my puppy, yay :)

She's a Golden Retriever/Labrador cross. She looks totally like Retriever, just black in colour with a white star on her chest.

Just wondering how I can make grooming a pleasant and happy experience for her?
What brush should I buy for her? I went to the pet store yesterday, and there are so many to choose from! When I go to actually purchase it, I know the people there can help, I just thought I'd ask for advice from everyone.

Thanks!

Hi! I just wanted to say your little girl will probably look like my Nellie :) She is a black labrador/ golden retriever mix. As far as the grooming, I am no expert. I just started by getting her used to me handling her feet/paws. She actually liked the bath, so I have been lucky with her. I have a ton of brushes, pin, slickers, and combs. I have to say I like the pin brushes and metal combs the best. So good luck with your new puppy and I can't wait to see pictures! :)

I found an old silver backed bristle brush. It is large with no sharp corners or edges. The bristles are very soft and don't brush at all. I used it after the dogs were used to being handled and before starting to really comb and brush through the coat. Also practice pretending to pull at snarls and burrs before there really are any. Practice at tick pulling and any other possible part of grooming that may make your pup antsy.
