Getting out pine sap?

So yesterday I was so proud of my little beast, I had sprained my ankle and wasn't able to do much with her, so she just went out back and took a nap under the pine trees and, so far as I was then aware, wasn't getting into any trouble....

When she came in I realized my mistake. She's covered in pine sap. My boyfriend tried scrubbing her with a rag and warm water and I just gave her a good bath, and she's better but still rather sticky in patches that just won't come out.

Does anyone have any tips for desapping a dog?

(She's in the longer end of short haired, and the sap is all the way to the skin so I'm afraid to try to cut any of it out)

Actually, any vegetable oil will work - it doesn't have to be oive oil. Wesson, Crisco, store-brands - they all do fine.

Soak cotton balls or pads in the oil. Work the pads into the sap until it is soft. Using your finger, break up the sap (you may need to use a grooming comb). Use a clean washcloth to blot up sny excess oil and residue. After you've cleaned up all the sap, give your dog a bath.
