Hello, so to start off with I own a 5 (will be 6 years old in September) year old mutt named Scooter whom I've had since he was 4 months old. He is generally pretty lazy and doesn't like much of anything (he only likes people, sleeping, taking walks, and eating) and is a very sensitive and fearful dog. Because he doesn't like much of anything I would like to teach him to play again since he seems to be bored like all the time. As a young dog he used to like playing (up until he was about 2 years old) and now will rarely play with anything even though sometimes he shows an interest in it when my other dog(s) play with something. The only things he seems interested in are fuzzy soft things or foam things. To me though it seems he really wants to play sometimes since we bought a foam dice with dry erase boards on it earlier and he fetched it more than 3 times (that's usually how much he fetches something before he's done) even though we didn't intend it to be a toy for him. Also I do not expect him to play fetch or tug with me for hours on end and be obsessed, I would just like to be able to play fetch or tug with him at least a few times a week for maybe 10 minutes. So any tips on getting a sensitive and fearful dog to play?
Pic of him for attention.

He's somewhat food motivated and I have tried something similar to a ball with a hole in thd middle (the kong and a random stuffed animal) and didn't seem to mind it. The only problem is he likes to stand there and like or bite at it. The only toys he seems to have an interest in are foam or soft, fuzzy things. Thanks for your suggestion and reply!
