Chester does not like going in the car .....he learns very well using the clicker and i was wondering if anyone has any tips using this method?

at the moment he will back away when he realises that he is going in the car..also once in there he does not travel well ...

You could do what the foster did with Kabota. Every day for the 10 days she had him, she put him in the car and took him to McDonalds and gave him a hamburger patty. He just loves the car now.

She needed him to be okay for a 12 hour drive in less than two weeks, so you can go a little slower. Click and treat for looking at the car, then for sticking his head in the open door, then for getting in, then for sitting in the car with the car off, then for sitting in the car when the car is on, but not moving, then for very short rides, then for longer ones.

Make sure these rides go to neutral or good places. The biggest mistake I made with Muggsy was only putting him in a car to go to the vet. That was a horrible mistake.
